2022 Holiday Gift Guide ✨

There's nothing we love more than sharing with you the things we love — especially when they're made by small businesses like us, and/or are made ethically and sustainably. This (and every) holiday season, the best gifts support makers who pour their hearts into their products that are always made with love, and that help the planet along the way.

2022 Holiday Gift Guide ✨

It’s that time of year again for our Holiday Gift Guide!

Last year, we published our first sustainable gift guide, and not only did we love writing it, but you guys also loved reading it, so we’re back for another year! Our 2021 gift guide is filled with gifts we still to this day think are incredible, and we’d recommend checking it out before you read this one!

There's nothing we love more than sharing with you the things we love — especially when they're made by small businesses like us, and/or are made ethically and sustainably. This (and every) holiday season, the best gifts support makers who pour their hearts into their products that are always made with love, and that help the planet along the way.

Here’s our list of gift ideas for you for 2022!

Home

Mallory Gorman Art: Mallory creates absolutely stunning paintings of scenes from all over Nova Scotia—between the two of us, we have four of her prints, and absolutely plan on adding to the collection again soon!

Laura Rae Studio: Laura is one of the kindest, most talented pottery artists in the city. Her work is GORGEOUS (I mean… look at this tealight holder) and it’s all made right here in Halifax.

The Tare Shop: One of our favorite stores in the city, The Tare Shop is the perfect spot to grab a gift card for your loved one who is hard to buy for. Nothing beats zero-waste shopping!

Compass Gin: Compass Distillers makes our fave gins ever, most notably the Gin Royal, or the limited-edition holiday Boston Tree Gin—made from a bough of the actual tree! How cool is that?

Alben Lane Candle Co. Holiday Bundle: Let’s be honest, we had to pop ourselves in here too. Our current holiday bundle has a scent for everyone—you can even add on The Cottage (for 15% off) for a bigger bundle!

Beauty

DesBray Bath Products: One of our market besties, DesBray Bath Products are made by the kindest human, Jade. We love her Purpose Fragrance rollerball—With a base of vanilla, finished with earthy notes of frankincense, cedarwood, patchouli, and uplifting lime notes for a unique twist, it’s easy to see why we love it!

The Cure Skincare: We first got a chance to try The Cure’s Body Whip when it was featured alongside our reed diffuser in the Holiday BlushCo. Box in 2021. We fought over who got to keep the one from the box and since then we have both purchased different scents (and also got our partners hooked on it)! The Cure makes tons of other amazing products including lip balms, body scrubs, and more!

Olga Naturals: Another small business that we discovered through the BlushCo. Box, Olga Naturals makes incredible clay face masks, as well as a gorgeous shimmer body oil. We bought a bottle this summer and have been using it every night out!

Simply Go Natural: We are absolutely obsessed with the Cocoa Shea Hair Repair Oil from Simply Go Natural, and the owner, Joyce, is a ray of sunshine who has never failed to put a smile on our faces. We could not recommend her products more!

Apparel

Shop Slowly Slowly: Focused on slow fashion and independent designers, this is one of our favorite shops in the city. The Holiday Edit section on their website is a great place to look for gifts for your friends & family this season. You can read about each of their designers on their website so you know exactly who you are supporting when you buy from their site, or their location on Cunard Street in Halifax!

Genetic Threads: For the tiny humans in your life, this mom-daughter duo creates the cutest baby clothing and accessories made from Canadian fabrics.

Emerald and Opal Creations: Handmade in Nova Scotia, the sugar cookie studs from Emerald And Opal are on both of our Christmas lists this year. Jess has specifically purchased clip-on earring backs so that she can wear some of Terri-lynn’s amazing earrings.

For the Pups

Attire by Archie: The CUTEST dog bandanas around. You can even get a matching hair scrunchie or pocket tee to coordinate with your dog. Custom sizing is available—in case your dog is a weirdo size, like Dante. She is always releasing cute new seasonal collections, and you can even get your dog’s name put on the bandana!

Judy Be Good: These plant-based & package-free dog treats are some of Dante’s favorites! We also often take a jar of these to outdoor markets in case there are any pups coming to our booth, and we buy them at The Tare Shop. Fun fact, Dante was featured on The Tare Shop’s Instagram jumping up for these treats!

Tail Waggers Adventure Gear: Handmade gear for adventurous pups! This awesome local company makes biothane leashes & collars which come in many sizes & colors. We absolutely love these since the dogs in our lives are in & out of the lake all summer so having a collar that doesn’t stay wet is just awesome. We also have a leash from them, and they never get dirty!
